.:FACTS
.: callum wouldn't be the first to say it but he is quite witty, carting around a dry sense of humour as proudly as his hogwart's acceptance letter. his mother always told him that wit is often very underrated and can be someone's greatest asset.

.: he tends to devour books whole and always enjoys the satisfaction of getting to the last sentence of the last page, knowing he's accomplished something. the feeling might last all of five minutes before he moves onto his next conquest.

.: more than anything he is quite proud of his passion for art and music. trying to keep way too far ahead with his studies tends to leave him more tense than he would like. whether it's with a paintbrush or a pencil, he loves to fill a canvas with whatever happens to pour from his mind at that moment. sometimes it's a masterpiece, sometimes it's straight rubbish and he might go piddle around on the piano or the acoustic with izzy for a while, but he always appreciates the outlet.

.: he comes across as shy to people who don't know him or that he doesn't himself know but he's very sweet deep down. opening up was never his strong suit, being an only child. thankfully he had a healthy dose of semi-practice from hanging out with his best mate tinslie's large and unyielding family. no mountains were moved but some exposure is always better than none at all.

.: even though callum can be very pleasant company he is also just a touch broody and tends to value time to himself. it's not to say that he doesn't like being around people but it's easier for him to focus on refining his wizard skills. keeping up with his courses means the less distractions the better.

.: his parents learned of his animagus form mastery after his fifth year. given his father's position at the ministry, there was no hesitation in taking him to be registered. assuming his animagus form allows him the privacy and alone time he tends to crave.

.: over all, he is very intelligent, practical, and always helpful with sorting matters out or solving a problem. he tends to help his mates with their coursework. some might say he's a bit of a straight-edge and they would be mostly right but he's learned to harbor a secret penchant for letting loose when the occasion calls.

.: for the most part he will answer to "cal" though only a few people call him that.

.:he still keeps his dark-rimmed glasses around for wearing even though he could have had them replaced ages ago. some people had tattered shoes or an old hat that they liked to keep around -- he keeps his glasses.

.: not having an ipod or a computer or any kind of electronic device is somewhat crippling for him but he manages well enough staying focused on school and hiding the fact that he's very athletic underneath all the wildly curly hair.
.:HISTORY
one might suppose that the environment of cal's childhood home in kensington could have been much worse. there were probably more sterile and polite households scattered around the globe and it never shocked him much, after all, with a pure blood wizard father, gordon, working as a high-ranking official within the ministry of magic to support him and eleanor, his muggle-born witch mother. they weren't cold parents but he wasn't exactly filled to the brim with warm and fuzzy feelings from them all the days of his life. regardless of anything else, he was grateful to have instilled in him the values of an honest upbringing, working to become a great wizard himself while also cultivating the mind and appreciating the arts. where he felt most comfortable though was with his friend tinslie and her family. having no siblings of his own, it was always very special that he got to experience being in a full home even if it wasn't necessarily his own.
.:SURVEY
.: you are given a test at school that has questions that teacher hasn't covered yet. in the middle of the test you notice that your friend next to you has a cheat-sheet. the teacher doesn't notice. what do you do?
it seems like something of a loony question since i know no friend of mine would ever be caught dead cheating. but all the same and for the sake of argument i would just focus on my own exam for the time being. i tend to read ahead so the teacher not covering material wouldn't be much of a problem. on a personal note, if that friend made a habit of being a cheat then i probably wouldn't associate much with that person thereafter. i'm not much of a snitch but i'm a firm believer in earning something through the use of your own brain. no shortcuts, no easy outs. anyone is always free to do what they want but i don't have to like it, and i certainly don't have to condone it.

.: while walking around hogsmeade, you find a purse inside honeydukes. it has a small amount of sickles in it, but no identification of any kind. there is nobody in sight. what do you do with the purse AND the money?
well since i don't have much use for errant money or a purse, i would probably hold onto the thing until i got back to civilization then hopefully find someone on the grounds who'd be in charge of finding the owner. honeydukes with nobody in sight though? really? i'd like to see the day.

.: you have arrived late to work because you had run out of floo powder. you've been on time every other day for the past month, yet your boss yells at you about it in front of all your coworkers. how do you handle this?
that's always the way of things, isn't it? you get caught doing something bad the very first time you do it. i probably wouldn't fret over it too much. i think it's written somewhere that bosses have to yell about something or other or else there'll be talk of mutiny and all sorts of nutty stuff. unless he plans to go rogue and give me the sack i would more than likely just let him yell and be done with it.

.: you have saved up for months to buy a new broom. as you're getting ready to buy it, a child runs by and steals your money. you chase him down and find that his mother is deathly ill and the child stole the money to buy her medicine. what would you do next?
the moral high road is always a tricky path to take. it seems like it would be the right thing to do to just give the poor lad a break. he's got a sick mum, mouths to feed, etc. unfortunately stealing is stealing. i would more than likely just try to explain that stealing is a crime no matter what then find the kid some free help. there isn't a huge shortage of shelters and clinics for the people who actually want to find them. it's better to have a plan and try to execute it than to go for short-term solutions with no guarantee of success. pointing him in the right direction would do the trick for me.

.: five years ago a girl stole some money from you and she never got in trouble for it. since then, she has become a much better person. recently she has been arrested for stealing, but you can prove that she is innocent. what do you do?
oh so it's a matter of holding a good grudge. i would be lying if i didn't want to think that fair is fair -- she didn't get caught for stealing before but she's sure caught now. i'm not really the vengeful type though. whatever happened in the past doesn't necessarily get solved in the present, and nobody should be punished for a crime they can't be proven to commit. the justice system is enough of a slippery slope without trying to throw a wrench into the process and falsely convict someone. otherwise it's not really justice yeah? i would give the girl a break and stand up for right. and then i wouldn't look her in the face again.
